Story
Hi,
This year I will be riding from Sydney to CAMberra as part of an annual event with 90 other riders, many of whom have lost a child to stillbirth or in their infancy. I have been involved as a volunteer in past events but this year is different as I will be riding to honour the memory of Aidan, my beautiful 3 year old son who passed away last year.
While taking part I hope to raise funds to support SIDS and Kids and the Stillbirth Foundation. I can speak firsthand of the invaluable support these two charities provide for families in their darkest hours and the least I can do is to request your support for what is a very meaningful cause by clicking 'Donate' link to make a secure online donation.
By donating you are also contributing to the continued success of a charity event that provides an opportunity for those impacted by the loss of a child to support one another. I personally hope to make difference on the event weekend and support other bereaved parents but I can also honestly say that there will be times where I will be leaning on someone else’s shoulder for support.
Even if you are unable to donate please assist me in reaching my fundraising goal by sharing this link with your friends, family and work colleagues (or liking the post if viewing via Facebook or Linked In).
There are also other ways to support us as well. We are always after volunteers for the event, gifts that we can auction off or be raffled, or you could attend the function in CAMberra at the conclusion of the ride on Saturday 28th March – Please contact me if you would like more details.
I have reached my fundraising target and as a result have already humiliated myself and worn my Sydney2CAMberra cycling gear to work for a day. However if you have not already donated please consider contiuing the support for these two great charities.
With all that being said I implore all the parents reading this to hug their children at the earliest opportunity and reflect on what they mean to you. Our children are the most precious things in our lives and they need to be treasured as their existence is not guaranteed. Spare a thought for all those who have lost a child or a sibling because all they want to do is hug that special someone who is no longer here.
